Solution Overview
Inventory/Production:
Automated inventory and production control were needed to satisfy the increased ordering and use of
dry bulk materials. Shick supplied a control system that included PLC controllers with
operator CRT terminals on a data highway system. A host personal computer downloads
formula and production requirements from the supervisory system and receives batch
information for report generation. All incoming bulk shipments are entered into the
control system and all scale draws are automatically subtracted, providing an accurate
perpetual inventory system.
Multiple Product Unloading: This
high volume system allows the customer to unload multiple bulk ingredients through multiple
delivery systems. P.D. trucks in addition to the spotting of any combination of (6)
airslide and/or P.D. railcar stations, provide maximum capacity with substantial
flexibility.
Dust Collection: A central dust
collection system vents all bulk silos except starch. This approach eliminates individual
silos deck-mounted units and allows maintenance at an in-plant grade level.
