After extensive research and testing, Shick has developed a patent-pending
aeration system comprised of an 12-zone, single-piece liner unit and
aeration controller. This system automatically sequences air to each zone
using high volume, low pressure air. This sequenced aeration creates such
fluidization action that all the product at or near the bottom of the bin
is forced to the discharge - no dead spots. This ensures a true
first-in/first-out discharge, which Shick will guarantee.
First-in/First-out Discharge
Since the bottom of the bin is continually
aerated and fluidized, the material/ingredient that is in the bin first
is discharged first. No product is left in the corners.
Complete Cleanout
By sequencing air and fluidizing various zones of the
hopper bottom (zoned aeration system) and utilizing a 15 degree hopper,
the material/ingredient is constantly moved to the discharge opening of
the bin. The system ensures virtually complete discharge of the bin -
greater than 99.99% cleanout.
Constant Convey/Feed Rate
Shick's patented zoned aeration system
guarantees a constant feed rate by eliminating bridging above the rotary
valve. The product above each zone actually appears to "boil," ensuring a
constant and uninterrupted flow to the rotary valve. With an uninterrupted
flow, the convey rates are accurate and reliable.
No Interior Seams in Product Contact
To eliminate the use of special
gasketing and caulking that are common on other brands of interior silos,
Shick uses a flexible interior liner. The liner provides a clean, smooth,
sanitary, storage vessel that acts as a moisture barrier that has no seams
in product contact. This liner eliminates any build-up on the interior
straight walls of the bin/liner.
